Red Itchy Bumps

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
What red itchy bumps that start on the stomach called?
Well i have these red itchy bumps that started on my stomach. They are also on my legs and arm and i dont know called. The bumps are really itchy.

    • ANSWER:
It might be pityriasis rosea. My wife had it and it sucks HARD. If you had a red, quarter-sized, non-itchy rash somewhere on your chest, arms, or abdomen, that would clinch it. Unfortuantely there's nothing they can do about it and it can last for several months.

Of course, it could be any number of things: an allergic reaction, poison ivy, chicken pox, scabies, etc. However if you don't have any guess about what caused it, see a doctor.

  2. QUESTION:
What are those red itchy bumps under my eye?
I heard that tea bags with caffeine help to reduce dark circles so i put green tea bags on my dark circles every night.but i realised that i'm getting more and more red itchy bumps, they look alike to pimples but they're not..i thought it would disappear but after weeks its still there and more bumps now..do i need to stop placing the green tea bags on dark circles?

    • ANSWER:
Sounds like your immune system is low, when we are more prone to getting little problems like these, we are more acid than Alkaline, and I would suggest you stop with the tea bags, go to a Chemist, and get some Cream for your Styes, I have a website for people who have low immune systems, this is a supplement to take to help detox and build up your immunity, repairs cell structure, I hope this problem will go away real soon. 3. QUESTION:
How do I get rid of red itchy bumps on my face-cheeks, forehead, jawline?
I have had red itchy bumps on my face-cheeks, forehead, jawline since July, waited a couple of months to see if they would go away i have tried clariton, and other over the counter meds, and nothing seemed to help if anything it only seems to have gotten worse, but not because of the meds. I finally got tired of all the itching that occurs, I went to the derma & she called it acne rosacea and then gave me about 4 prescriptions, and also suggested a clear light treatment, well im on my 4th treatment, and it hasnt seemed to work or i dont think it has. Im still getting the red bumps on my face, and now i've noticed that i get one or two on my upper chest, and neck. Well thats how it started in july I noticed it on the side of my cheek by my hairline and now i get about 3 or 4 on both sides of my face plus my forehead. Its just very frustrating. If anyone knows of a over the counter remedy, please tell me. I'm done giving my money to the derma & not seeing results.

It happens Everytime I take a shower, not just my shower.

    • ANSWER:
Sounds like a mild allergic reaction.

You could try using a different shampoo/bodywash/whatever else you use?

If you know this is unrelated, maybe something in the water?

If not that maybe something on your cleaning cloth/loofah/scrubber?

But in any case sounds like a mild allergic reaction.

  8. QUESTION:
I have red itchy bumps on my tattoo? Should I be concerned? Will the bumps mess up the ink?
I always seem to get red itchy bumps whenever I get a tattoo. The problem is this time the bumps are on the tattoo itself and Ive never had this happen before. But they are just small light red itchy bumps and in the ink I can barley see them but I can feel them. Will this mess up the ink in my tattoo at all?

    • ANSWER:
Not usually, but the reason you have them in the first place could. Most of the time, the bumps are a symptom of too much ointment or lotion, and the tattoo not getting enough air. The real problem with that, is that it can cause the scab to soften, and sometimes come off prematurely. This can lead to an uneven looking color scheme in your tattoo, with patchy looking spots where solid areas of color should be. My mentor pointed this out, citing the fact that it's so common, he usually just touches it up without telling people why it happened. If you tell 'em, they feel bad, and might not come back. You don't jepordize a good customer's business that way. Or so he says. Makes sense to me.

  13. QUESTION:

    • ANSWER:
4.Dyshidrosis. (cheiropomphylox) Google images and dermnet.nz ...... does it look like this?
It is allergy to a dermatophyte, which is any kind of skin loving bug. mold, yeast, bacteria, virus, parasite, pollen. It could be anywhere on your body. The rash on the hands(or feet) is just a red flag. Take anti-histamines for immediate relief. Fexofenadine 180mg, and 12 hours later 60mg, then every 12 hours 60mg. This is not the cure. But it will stop the itching. Go to dyshidrosis@yahoogroups for treatments and information.

People who have eczema are 'atopic'. Very sensitive to all kinds of irritants. This is your immune system over-reacting to the presence of a dermatophyte. The most common dermatophyte is Candida in it's dimorphic, mycelial form in the intestines.
The cure is really simple, but I very much doubt you can get your doctor to prescribe it for you.
You need a two week course of NYSTATIN by drops, 4 million units daily. then a 2 week break, then repeat. If this does not work (and I would bet the cost of your doctor visit it does.) you need a drug called Toctino, to be taken for 90 days. This is expensive, you will find a cheaper way on the links at Dyshidrosis@yahoogroups.com. (You may find your eczema goes away too. I am betting you are 14/15.)
am studying this condition, also called the 'Id reaction". Can I ask you to tell your dermatologist to refer to page 651, chapter 17 in the 1st volume of the Textbook of Dermatology by Rook, Wilkingson and Ebling.?

My sister is in college so is it possible that she brought them back with her? The bumps are on my arms, butt, and back. PLEASE HELP 10 POINTS

Does anyone know what these might be?

    • ANSWER:
Your body may not know how to handle this one. You could be allergic to something new or different that they used on you. Or it could be an infection. If you're cleaning it then it may be those products, if not then you should go see your doctor, or walk in, so they give you some more information :)

Well, its possible you may have hand, foot, and mouth disease.
It's not normal that people over the ages of ten get it, but it does happen.
Basically you get a rash everywhere that then turn into blisters. These normally occur on the palms, bottom of feet, top of feet and hands, and inside the mouth. It can also spread on your legs and arms, as well as up your back, on your stomach, and in other.. regions.
Sadly, there is nothing you can do for it.

  36. QUESTION:
What are these little red bumps on my chest, back and stomach?
I went to camp this week and half way through the week I noticed these red, itchy, semi painful bumps all over my stomach, chest, and back area. They are randomly scattered about and they have like a little brighter red dot in the middle of them. What are they?

    • ANSWER:
Without seeing them it would be really hard to say. Considering that you just got back from camping I would worry about things like chiggers:
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trombiculosis

      http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/f/f7/Chigger2.JPG/220px-Chigger2.JPG

If you look at the wiki page, there is a sample of chigger bites. If you think they look similar, then you might want to take a bath with epsom salts, and then put calomine lotion on the red spots, or whatever anti itch cream you prefer.

In a few days you will be much better off. I would also wash your sleeping bag and all of your camping clothes in hot water, just to be safe,

If that looks nothing like what you have, then you might want to get the opinion of your doctor, just to make sure it isn't something you can spread to other people.

      Hope you feel better soon.

and some of the bumps look like razor burn, but that's impossible as i obviously didnt use a razor!

    • ANSWER:
Oral benadryl will stop an allergic reaction if you're having one, but I'd say that what you really need is something to put on the leg to stop the itching. When something itches really bad, it helps to put something cool on it. You can even put some lotion in the fridge and get it cold and apply it on or a cool washcloth to the itchy areas as well. Benadryl cream or hydrocortisone cream will also help get rid of the itch. Best of luck to you...I know how frustrating and itchy rash can be!!!

  47. QUESTION:
Could i be allergic to neosporin I am putting on a cat scratch?
My cat scratched me pretty bad about a week ago, I cleaned it immediately and have been cleaning it and using peroxide/neosporin since. I noticed red itchy bumps around the scratch that seem to be worse when i use the neosporin? I've never had a problem using it in the past. Would betadine work better to help this heal? Are neosporin allergies common? Thanks!
Thanks guys. I had my dr. look at it just in case. Turns out I was having an allergic reaction to the cat scratch. Got some meds and it is looking a little better each day.

    • ANSWER:
Its possible that you can have an allergy to neosporin. Cats scratches and bites are bad to start with. There is something in the nails of their claws that our skins just doesn't agree with. Betadine would not be any better, in fact it actually inhibits healing. Soap and water has always worked. Since its been a week, keeping the wound moist with a topical antibiotic can also inhibit healing. Keep it dry and covered lightly. Hope this helps
