Red Pimple Like Bumps On Arms

Do not be taken in by what your neighbors claim to be a miracle cure for pimples and the accompanying redness. This is actually their payback time for all the times you had forgotten to return their books and the garden tools. So beware! If you are wondering how to get rid of redness in pimples and feeling like tearing your hair, then take heart. There are an umpteen number of cures, and all quite simple ones at that, which will help you with your ungainly marks and spots.Remedies to Remove Redness in PimplesRosacea, also known as adult acne is the condition of redness in pimples. In many people, this condition of redness actually has some specific triggers. Say a cup of tea or coffee, or a drink or two and even hot, peppery food. Long periods of stress and the sun rays too are possible triggers. If you are lucky enough to have spotted the triggers, then the sole way to get rid of the redness is to steer well clear off them. But there are actually more people afflicted with the problem of persistently reddened pimples. And for them a mudpack is an option worth exploring. This particular facial mask will help the pimple shrivel and disappear in no time at all, and with it, it will be bye-bye to the redness too. When you are practically reeling with pimple redness, cakes of make-up and harsh skincare products are to be kept at bay. These further lead to inflammation of the skin and aggravate your pimple predicament. There are a few quick-fix home remedies to cure the problem of redness in pimples. An ice cube held over the pimple for about 20-minutes followed by a dab of milk is quite an effective solution. So is holding a wet tea bag or a cotton swab dipped in lemon juice against the pimple for about five minutes. Untreated Rosacea can lead to severe bumps in the facial region especially on the nose. So, dermatologists usually waste no time in prescribing antibiotic gels and lotions for the mild Rosacea cases and antibiotic pills like tetracycline (which is especially beneficial for eye complications arising out of Rosacea) to get rid of the pimple problem. You can expect results with the antibiotic treatment in about 3-4 weeks. However, pregnant women are advised against use of antibiotics in any form. In some acute cases, even antibiotics do not go all the way. When antibiotics fail to perform, you can opt for isotretinoin or tretinoin cream to do the duty. But again, these remedies are strictly out of bounds for the expectant mother. The aforementioned treatment options however, are ineffective when you are dealing with grave Rosacea conditions. The only way out in these cases is treatment along harsher lines. And remedies include laser therapy, dermabrasion or cryosurgery. Particularly painful pimples require a shot of cortisone, which your dermatologist will of course tender and you can expect a reduction in the inflammation and redness within a few hours. A reddened pimple is a serious enough situation to merit attention. But never in the form of pricking and squeezing it. Tips to cure redness in pimples are actually easy to follow and a clear, glowing skin is not too far away.

Re: the persistent red pimple. I suggest you see your doctor or a dermatologist because you may need a topical antibiotic to get rid of it.

As for the tiny pimples on your arms and shoulders, it may be a case of keratosis pilaris (build up of skin cells around tiny hair follicles). Use a lotion w/ lactic acid to exfoliate and get rid of them, such as Lac-Hydrin.

What you have is Keratosis Pilaris or chicken skin. Keratosis Pilaris is caused by over growths of dead skin over the hair follicle. The quickest and easy fix is a chemical exfoliant (for example a Glycol based one that you would use on your face) or even a physical exfoliant will clear it up in as little as three weeks. Enjoy your clear skin!

  12. QUESTION:
What are some good remedies for ingrown hairs?
I have some red bumps on my thighs and upper arms that I'm pretty sure are ingrown hairs. Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
A few years back in Cosmo I read how white toothpaste with a little water used over pimples and ingrown hairs will clear it up. What you do is at night right when you are getting ready for bed you dab a good amount of white toothpaste on your palm and mix it with a little water to get it pasty. Then you put it on your pimples or other bumps and let it sit all night as you sleep. The next morning there should be a noticeable difference after you have washed off the remaning toothpaste. I know this sounds crazy but it really works!! I do this all the time!

  13. QUESTION:
Red small pimple looking bumps on my legs?
I can remember having red, small, pimple looking bumps on my legs and arms ever since I was around 8. I have lots and it's all over my legs but not much on my arms. I went to the doctors but all he told me was that it's because of my hormones and that I should just wear stockings to cover it up. I just want to know what the name for it is and if there's any cream or product I can use to cure it. Please help!

    • ANSWER:
Increase fiber intake and minimize the carbohydrates intake in your diet. A well-balanced diet can maintain natural bowel movement that has direct connection with your skin's health. If your digestive system is functioning well, then your skin remains good. Drinking plenty of water helps in removing toxins from your body, thereby, gifting you a glowing and healthy skin.

  14. QUESTION:
How do I get rid of these bumps on my arms?
I've had these bumps on my arm all over my triceps area they normally look like little pimples that don't hurt as much when you touch them. That area is slightly more red then other parts of my body and its no itchy. I try peeling them off but they just end up being little dark patches that fade and come back as the bumps. Some of the bumps are like pimples without that white skin and some are just pimple like bumps with the white skin thing.

    • ANSWER:
You may have already tried some of these things, however maybe not all combined. One thing, make sure you only use soap that is fragrance free and hypo allergenic. Do not apply any cream or lotion that contain any perfumes. Make certain that the area is dry after washing. Water can remain on the skin can cause a fungus to remain, or grow in some areas (if already irritated, especially ...).
After the skin is clean and dry, try some hydrocortisone cream. Let that stay on and wash after several hours and reapply. 2 to 3 times daily for a couple of days. If this is going to work, it should be improving, if not then a prescription strength steroidal cream may be necessary. Triamcinilone or hydrocortisone 2.5% along with a medrol dose pack. It may require the stronger of the 2 suggestions if it has been an ongoing cycle. Good luck!

Look like it is acne vulgaris nothing serious.

  20. QUESTION:
How can I get smooth skin on my arms?
I have red bumps and I don't know how to get rid of them.

    • ANSWER:
Do they kind of look like red little pimples but aren't pimples? because if they're something like that, you can't get rid of them completely, you might have something called Keratosis Pilaris, it's when the skin produces excess keratin which traps hair follicles causing them to plug up, thus the red bumps.

You could try and gently exfoliate the area like once or twice a week, personally it works for me as I have a little area that is red and bumpy like that and find that exfoliating helps smooths it out.

  21. QUESTION:
what could these bumps uner my arm be?
I have little red pimple like bumps under my arm pits. Do you think it would be better for me to wax or shave? any idea what it could be or how to get rid of it?
4 minutes ago - 4 days left to answer.

    • ANSWER:
If you have not shaved I'd check to see if you have chicken pox. It sometimes starts there. If you did shave it is most likely razor burn. You can apply eucalyptus or aloe based creams to the area to alleviate the pain. Otherwise, switch to chemical based hair removers (probably not an improvement) or waxing which i best but hurts a lot.

  34. QUESTION:
How do I get rid of little bumps on my skin?
I have nice skin it's mostly smooth but all over my arms there are little bumps. I know it's not a rash because they're not at all red, it's not pimples either, and they aren't goosebumps because even when i'm sweating hot I can still feel the bumps. What do I do to get rid of them?

    • ANSWER:
I have the same problem. What you have is called keratosis pilaris. It is where the tiny hair follicles get clogged causing rough bumps. Don't use anything too abrasive on it as this can irritate it worse. You need to use a moisturizing cleanser with a washcloth and you need to use a lotion containing either lactic acid or alpha hydroxy acid. The lotion will exfoliate the bumps away and keep your skin moisturized. You should use it twice per day until your bumps go away, then you can revert to once a day to maintain smoothness. You can find these lotions at Walgreen's, cvs, or any other drug store. I like AmLactin it works really well for me. For more information on KP go to this website they have a lot of good info (and aren't trying to sell anything :>) http://www.keratosis-pilaris.com/types.php. You can also find a lot of info just by looking it up on yahoo.

  35. QUESTION:
What are theses red bumps/ pimple things on my legs ?
What are theses red bumps/ pimple things on my legs ?
they're mostly on my thighs, they're there whether I shave or not, and some of them are red, some of them look like pimples but they don't pop. do I need to exfoliate or something? please help, I hate having gross legs

    • ANSWER:
You do need to exfoliate - I can't remember the name of the condition but it is where dead skin cells don't slough off as well as they should, so they end up clogging pores which causes these little spots – I used to get this on my arms.

To exfoliate try dry brushing before you go into the bath or shower, a nice natural soft bristled brush in light strokes up your body will help improve circulation and exfoliate, also try exfoliating gloves in the bath or shower these are really cheap (much cheaper than buying a body polish or exfoliating products) and do a really fantastic job – another cheap exfoliation tip is using sugar, a little sugar rubbed into your skin will help exfoliate and leave skin soft. I’m also a big fan of cosmetic vinegar, which also promotes circulation, regulates skins pH and is antiseptic as well as exfoliates – basically it does the same job as Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA’s) in all those expensive washes and lotions – just use plain apple cider vinegar put onto your skin at the end of your bath or shower, once it dries it won’t smell….but if concerned about smell try this recipe that I normally use for my face - 500ml of apple cider vinegar, 3ml lavender essential oil, 3ml rosemary essential oil, 2ml rosewood essential oil, and 2 tablespoons glycerine.

Hi, alright, this may be really weird. but, i have these little red dots on my arms, they kind of look like pimples but not really. i think that they are just places where the hair on my arm is growing weird or something, though they have never been a problem before and i have had hair on my arm for a long time, im 18. haha. anyways, there are like 10 of them on both arms combined and they arent very big, but noticeable. anyone know what they are / how to get rid of them. thanks.

    • ANSWER:
      Sounds like PK. Very common.
The K stands for keratosis, I forget what the P stands for.
You get red dots or bumps on your arms sort of like pimples but they aren't.
Get some Aquaphor cream in a tube at the drugstore. It works like a charm if you put some on the spots every day.
      It costs about .
NOthing else works for this, I know, I have it.

What are these bumps on my arms?
I'm 13 (girl) and for as long as I can remember I've had these bumps on my arms. They won't go away and I wash them and moisturize them everyday! They're only on my upper arms and they almost look like tiny pimples, but they're not. They're also a little red underneath. What could this be and how do i get rid of them?

  44. QUESTION:
Why is there red bumps on the outside of my arm?
On the outside of my arm, there are several bumps that look like pimples/ingrown hairs that start from the end of my shoulder to my elbow, and are very numerous, does anyone know what this is?

    • ANSWER:

  45. QUESTION:
What are these small itchy red bumps on my toddler's arms?
There the size of a pimple, but there aren't any white heads, or puss, or anything like that. They're only on his arms, no where else. He constantly scratches them so it makes them more red, could even be making them spread. What could this be? It doesn't look like chicken pox, or impetigo...could it be eczema? is it just a rash? thanks.

    • ANSWER:
Could it be KP (Keratosis Pilaris)? I have them and they sometimes itch. They are just lots of red bumps which you can get on your arms or legs. 60% of teenagers have them, but many ages can get them (45% of the population). It is not harmful, but it cant be cured. I can be treated by exfoliation with salicylic acid and moisturizing. It looks a bit like chicken skin. It happens when excess keratin is produced and surrounds the hair follicles. This means the bumps are usually where hairs are.

It might not be this, but if it is I hope it helps!

  46. QUESTION:
How do I know if the bumps on my body are pimples or bed bugs?
I have random bumps all over my body. I think this is normal for me. They are red and raised and the shape and size of small pimples. After reading about bed bugs I began to wonder if these bumps were something else. They don't hurt any more than a random body pimple would. They don't bother me either. How can I find out if something is feeding on me?

    • ANSWER:
It is probably not a bed bug problem. Bed bugs bite on areas of the body exposed during sleep, including the lower legs, lower arms etc. Of course if you sleep in the nude then this doesn't apply. Other insect based causes could be scabies (see resource #1).

When there are skin reactions all over the body there is usually a more generalized cause such as allergy (food, environmental, chemical such as to laundry detergent) or medical (thyroid, liver, kidney function). Medical causes are less common that some type of allergy. I've attached a 2nd resource that runs down the causes of skin itch and red pimples.

But there are places that my arm wont reach! How long willl it take for my back to go back to normal and are there any better ways to get rid of pimples??? :) thankyou

  49. QUESTION:
Red Pimple like bumps on my sides?
I have these red pimple like bumps on my sides, inner arm and inner thigh, i know what heat rash looks like and this is not it. They do not itch and are very painful when touched. There are some in groups and some not, they look like bites but definitely are not an allergic reaction. Any ideas?

    • ANSWER:
It sounds a lot like folliculitis, an infection of the hair follicles. The reason I say this is that it sounds like what cropped up on me two days ago, and was diagnosed today by my doctor. They don't itch at all, but they hurt when something rubs against them, like when I'm getting dressed.

If the infection is superficial, it will go away on its own within a few days. If the infection is deeper in the follicle, you need oral antibiotics, which I just started today (topical things like neosporin won't help).
