    • ANSWER:
it could be your dryer softerner sheets if you use them. try not using them for a week or so. also my son developed a rash like that and his doctor told him it could be a sign of pre diabetes, he is over weight.it could be an alergic reaction to maybe some sort of cream. also have you changed hair shampoo or conditioner lately? if you wash your hair first and then wash your body last, you can rinse the shampoo or conditioner off your body as it sloughs off on to your body while you are in the shower. try these things!

had a very similar reaction after my second treatment.. try to avoid hot showers, sweating, perfumes and perfume containing moisturizers, and tight clothes.. I just got back from the beach about a week ago for Labor day weekend and since then I have these little itchy red bumps on my legs and some on my arm that you can barely see. I put lotion on thinking it's because my skin is dry from being in the sun and shaving but that doesn't help. I don't know what it is from and it's very annoying. 7. QUESTION:
Why does it seem like I'm allergic to some dogs but not others? Is that possible?
I've grown up with dogs; I've never Ben without at least one, but in the past year or so I've noticed that I get a bunch of itchy little red bumps on my arms when I pet some dogs. It doesn't happen when I pet my own dogs or my fiance's but it happens with a lot of other dogs. Why is this?

    • ANSWER:
Are you sure it's from the dog? Dogs are known to bring in a bunch of other allergens or irritants - pollen, grass, or even sap from trees or junk from poison ivy. Some people also use products on their dogs - waterless bath sprays, colognes, or even the shampoos.

However - yes, it's possible to be allergic to some dogs but not others. Even dogs of the same breed can vary in terms of allergens. Itchy bumps and rashes suggest an allergy to saliva (maybe the dog licks) as inhaled allergens like to the dander tend to show as cold like symptoms (nasal swelling or congestion, itchy eyes, etc.)

Have you discussed it with an allergy specialist? Or even your regular doctor? I get red itchy bumps/rashes when it's dry out or when i bathe a lot of dogs - my skin gets irritated and breaks into a rash. Could literally be anything.

  8. QUESTION:
Can you be allergic to the fibers from your pillows and bed sheets?
I've been having itchy skin and red bumps on my arms and legs for a while now. I told my parents about it and they went to go check out my bed.

    No bed bugs.
    No fleas.
    No ticks.

My aunt said to wash my sheets and stuff every week, because it could be ringworm.

I don't think that makes any sense? So, can you be allergic to the fibers on your bed sheets and pillows. If so, what do they look like?

    • ANSWER:
Could be allergy to the laundry detergent, some of them make lots of people itchy.
You can't always see dust mites and things like that, they're too small.

Try buying a laundry powder that's meant for people with allergies.

Also, check out the plants in your neighbourhood. If you're in Australia, there's one called Murraya, lots of people have it for a hedge plant, but lots and lots of people are allergic to it. It is flowering at the moment, and that's when it's worse. It's like a mock orange, has little white flowers, and strong perfume. Gives lots of people allergies, and some asthma.

  9. QUESTION:
Why do I get red, itchy bumps on my hands?
I have several, small, itchy, red bumps around the top of my hands and up my arms.
They are EXTREMELY itchy and annoying. It kinda hurts to scratch them
I've been to the doctor before and them gave me a cream. It didn't work.

I also noticed that I've been getting even more when I try to put just normal cream on them. Maybe it's an allergic reaction?
Anyone else know what they might be and what can I do you heal them.

  11. QUESTION:
My 4 month old golden retriever has red itchy bumps under arms and scratches constantly. What is the cause?
He scratches and bites and no fleas are present only little red bumps and rash like symptoms under his arms, on his belly, and under his neck. I need answers this is not good. Is it a yeast infection or something else i don't know about?

    • ANSWER:
Take your pup to a vet, they are best at diagnosing and treating pet skin ailments. A yeast infection is possible because yeast does live in the moist areas but my guess is that this is unlikely. More likely it is fleas, mites, scabies or some other biting critter. Check the base of the tail for signs of fleas. The mites are too small to see so the vet will do a skin scrapping (painless) and look under a microscope. The good news is all these things are treatable. The bad news is that if you don't treat the dog, you may get them next.

  12. QUESTION:
Is there anygood home remedies for hives?
I've been breaking out in itchy red bumps on face, hands and arms, and can't figure out why. I haven't eaten anything unusual, I don't think I have any allergies. Any ideas? thanx!

    • ANSWER:
For hives, rinse the skin with cool water, and massage Tea Tree Essential Oil into affected area three times daily.

A ten-minute soak in a lukewarm Oatmeal Bath can help relieve itching. Rubbing an ice cube for a few minutes will constrict the blood vessel, prevent further blood leakage, and shrink the hive. Stay cool and wear loose clothing, including shoes.

Do not eat tomatoes, shellfish, strawberries, or citrus fruits while you have hives.

Parsley inhibits histamine and can be blended into carrot juice to taste better. Nettle taken in capsules contains enough histamine to help and not enough histamine to harm, while containing other substances that help heal hives. Take this three times a day. Jewelweed (Jewelweed Anti-Itch Spray) can stop itching instantly when applied topically.

Wash the skin several times a day with vinegar water: 1/4 quart natural apple cider vinegar to two quarts water.

Vitamin C and Vitamin B-12 will help ease hives from allergic symptoms and prevent recurrences. Beta Carotene is particularly effective for hives caused by the sun.

Take evening primrose oil (two 500 mg capsules three times daily).

An antihistamine (cold or allergy medicine, but read the label to be sure this is listed) will help relieve hives.

A hive that doesn't go away after 24 hours or leaves a bruise behind is not a normal hive. For that, a doctor should check for thyroid disease.

Hives around the eyes or in the mouth, or difficulty breathing, are signals to get to an emergency room. (Hives in the throat can cause the throat to swell and close, bringing on suffocation.)

I have these little red bumps on my upper arm that goes all the way up to my upper back. They kind of look like little acne. They appear to centered where the hair is growing.

What are they and how can I treat them?
I forgot to add that they do not itch or are they painful; they are just there.

    • ANSWER:

-if this is a case see a dermatologist for treatment
-if you can see hair growing out or black lines/dots within the bumps then it would be ingrown hairs

  15. QUESTION:
Why am I getting itchy red bumps all over?
After getting out of the shower yesterday, I became really itchy but it wasn't that bad. This morning I got upband noticed red bumps all over my skin. It looked similar to mosquito bites but mostly larger. My neck, arms, shoulders, back, belly, underarms and thigh (so pretty much my whole body) are all itching like crazy. I have had eczema all my life but it stopped the beginning if this year. What I have right now does not look like eczema at all. It looks absolutely horrible! What's happening to me?

    • ANSWER:
It may be a fungus infection, allergic reaction to chemicals or an insect that bit you, or a virus such as small pox or chicken pox, if you have other symptoms. You should see a physician ASAP, especially if the symptom don't subside.

  16. QUESTION:
What red itchy bumps that start on the stomach called?
Well i have these red itchy bumps that started on my stomach. They are also on my legs and arm and i dont know called. The bumps are really itchy.

    • ANSWER:
It might be pityriasis rosea. My wife had it and it sucks HARD. If you had a red, quarter-sized, non-itchy rash somewhere on your chest, arms, or abdomen, that would clinch it. Unfortuantely there's nothing they can do about it and it can last for several months.

Of course, it could be any number of things: an allergic reaction, poison ivy, chicken pox, scabies, etc. However if you don't have any guess about what caused it, see a doctor.

  17. QUESTION:
Non itchy red bumps on inside of arms and inner thighs
I woke up yesterday morning with red bumps on my inner arms and inner thighs only. They don't itch. I took benadryl just in case it was some kind of allergic reaction and they didn't go away. By the end of the day some of them were starting to go away but i woke up this morning and i had more again. I have no clue what they could be. I haven't switched detergent or done anything different lately.
The bumps aren't tiny. A lot of them are pretty big. A few of them are close to an inch.

    • ANSWER:
It could be an allergy... it could even come from the detergent you wash your clothes with, or the soap you use on your body. Have you changed detergents recently? Not all allergic reactions are necessarily accompanied by itching.

In any case, benadryl was a good first idea. You can also try a topical cream... over the counter only, like hydrocortisone.

If nothing helps, and it keeps up for more than a few days, see a doctor.

  18. QUESTION:
i have small blisters on hands and itchy red bumps on my legs helppppp?
I have blisters on my hands and wrist that itch and burn, i also have red itchy bumps on my legs and some scattered on my stomach. I can't take it! The Dr has. No idea what it is. Please helpll
Also others not related to me have this. Even people with no direct contact.

    • ANSWER:
Well, its possible you may have hand, foot, and mouth disease.
It's not normal that people over the ages of ten get it, but it does happen.
Basically you get a rash everywhere that then turn into blisters. These normally occur on the palms, bottom of feet, top of feet and hands, and inside the mouth. It can also spread on your legs and arms, as well as up your back, on your stomach, and in other.. regions.
Sadly, there is nothing you can do for it.
But I'm no doctor, so its very possible I'm wrong.

  20. QUESTION:
How do I spot bed bugs?! I am starting to believe I might have these at home, wake up with bites...?
    Hello!

I'm 21, female. I live at home with my parents, when I was younger, like 13, we found bed bugs on my mattress, we assume we got these from an apartment next to us that was found infested with these, we had to throw away my mattress and get a new one.

Never agian did I have such an issue. I was able to find out they were bed bugs because I would have itchy red small bumps (bites), and one night I was lucky enough to spot the bugs, it wasn't hard for me to see them.

Well, lately I keep finding itchy small red bumps on my body again, about 4 nights ago I got a bump near my chest, I didn't think much of it. Right now I have about 4 other bumps of these, behind my arm, forearm, elbow, etc. So I am starting to think that perhaps it's bed bugs again. But I have searched my mattress a lot, and I see nothing.

I know bed bugs are really small but I know what they look like from that experience when I was younger. They are small and reddish/brown etc. I see none on my mattress, could these bumps be from something else?

I haven't used any skin products that I could relate this to.

I will now wash everything in hot water, maybe that helps, but in the meantime I would like to know if there are any technics I can use to figure out if these are really bug bites? How do I spot these bugs if they are the cause of these bumps?!

    Help!

    • ANSWER:
If you suspect that you may have bed bugs then wrapping some double sided sticky tape round the legs of the bed is a good test. You will find the bugs stuck on there. Generally speaking an infestation which is under 3 months old will be hard to detect.

You can buy bed bug monitors very cheaply online, try Amazon.

  24. QUESTION:
What are these itchy red bumps?
Lately, I have been getting itchy red bumps around my ankles and a few on the back of my leg and on my arms in different areas. I don't know what's causing them but I think it may be a mosquito in my apartment because this just started happening. Can anyone give me a clue? It's a itchy red bump that looks similar to a mosquito bite. But I'm going to the doctor on Monday to find out hopefully and in the mean time, what can I use for itching?

    • ANSWER:

So it's an allergic reaction to something.

  25. QUESTION:
How do i know if these itchy bumps are mosquito bites or bug bites?
I have these red itchy bumps on me (some of them are in clumps) that look like mosquito bites but its not even that warm out and i don't go outside that often. My sister is in college so is it possible that she brought them back with her? The bumps are on my arms, butt, and back. PLEASE HELP 10 POINTS

It would be impossible to diagnose this over the internet. If you haven't been outside and you have many then they are probably another type of bug. It is very hard to distinguish bug bites.

  27. QUESTION:
What are these huge itchy bumps on my skin?
I have been waking up with huge, red, itchy bumps on all different parts of my body for the last couple months. They itch and burn and swell for about 3 or four days. Then, they just turn into these small little bumps on my skin. I get them on my legs, arms, and face so far. I have no idea what they are, but it really worries me. Any ideas?
I highly doubt they are bedbugs, I rarely sleep in my bed. I usually sleep on the couch, or the chair, or the floor. Wherever I happen to be when I get tired, lol. I even stayed over at a neighbors house to watch her kids and got them when I woke there.

  28. QUESTION:
Itchy red bumps on legs and stomach and spreading to hands and arms.?
I woke up a few days ago covered in itchy red bumps on legs and stomach, and now they are spreading to my hands. What could it be? I think it could be mite bites, but my mom doesn't believe me.
Well, not woke up, a few days ago they randomly popped up on my body, starting on my left ankle as a massive rash.
If it was staph, why would I have more hives than a few?
I'm not running a fever, which is why I think it is mite bites.

    • ANSWER:
Itchy red bumps could mean a lot of things. The first thing that came to my mind though was staph. I had a staph infection of the skin a few years back and it started as just one or two itchy red bumps on my arms. I scratched them, and the next day I had a few more bumps on my arm, further down. The next day, I had the bumps on one leg. By the third day my arm, legs, and stomach were all covered in red, slightly tender, itchy bumps, some of which had a purplish tinge to them. I went to the doctor and they very quickly diagnosed it as staph and gave me about 3 weeks' worth of heavy-duty antibiotics to knock it out.

Whatever it is, you need to have a doctor look at it ASAP. The longer you wait, the further it will spread. In the meantime, try taking an antihistamine like Benadryl and see if that stops the rash. If the rash does indeed go away or at least stop progressing, then the rash may be an allergic reaction (hives) instead of an infection. Either way, it's time to see the doctor.

      Good luck!

Bottom, arms, stomach, etc.) It doesn't necessarily hurt, but it's really irritating and it woke me out of my sleep last night (i'm a really hard sleeper and have managed to sleep through a surprising amount of instances..)

Anyway, the prickly feeling will usually last about 30 minutes more or less, and then fade away. A couple hours to a day later i'll have 1-3 big itchy red bumps on that same spot. The first 2 times it happened I was kinda like "ok, whatever then" but now its getting annoying.

I noticed it's been happening when i'm laying in bed. Not necessarily for a few hours, but sometimes after a few minutes of laying down i'll get that prickly feeling. I immediately get up and check the whole bed/pillows/covers, but I don't see any bugs and wash the sheets just in case. When it happened last night we had just washed the sheets a day ago!

I'm paranoid this is bed bugs but I've checked and I haven't seen any, I don't have any known allergies, and i'm pretty sure i'm not sick. The time these instances happen can range from a few weeks to a few months apart.

Whats wrong with me? Is this possibly bed bugs.. (or another kind perhaps)?

    Additional Details
I'd also like to add that the spots where these feelings happen are covered by my clothes. I just looked up pictures of bed bug bites, and it's not like what I have. It looks like mosquito bites, but a bit bigger.

  36. QUESTION:
Does it sound like my friend has bed bugs?
I never had bed bugs, or ever been bitten by one that I know of, so I'm not sure. But whenever I spend the night at her house, the next day I notice I have little red bumps all over my arms and feet, like only on exposed parts. And they're really itchy :/ . My boyfriend noticed them on my arms, and he said it sounds like she has bed bugs. It only happens when I go to her house. I have no clue :/ help. Lol.

    • ANSWER:
Either it's bed bugs, or you're allergic to something in that house. Could be the soap detergent they use for washing the linen, since you spend the night there.

Next time you're there, pick up the sheets and look around for dark spots, or the bugs themselves.

If it is bed bugs, you've probably carried some eggs home with you, so you might have an infestation at your own home soon.

  37. QUESTION:
What are these red bumps on my whole entire body?
There are what seems like hundreds of little red bumps all over me. I realized I had some on my arm this morning because it was a bit itchy, but when I took off my shirt to change, I saw them all over my neck, my back, and my stomach. What is it...

    • ANSWER:
      A number of things.
Maybe hives from an allergic reaction to something, the chicken pox, or bug bites.

There may be fleas or some kind of bug in your bed?

      I don't know.

Sounds like an allergic reaction to me. Take some Benadryl and see how you react to it. If nothing happens, then you know it might be something else.

  38. QUESTION:
How do you get rid of bumps?
I have slightly red bumps on my arms. My mom says its eczema but its not itchy. is there a cream to get rid of it?

    • ANSWER:
i have red bumps and eczema. the red bumps are NOT eczema. i went to my skin doctor and she said there's nothing you can do about it, it will go away with time. she said just like some people have acne i have red bumps and they will go away with time.

  39. QUESTION:
What could be the cause of my itchy rash?
A few days ago I started to develop a very itchy rash. It is mostly on my arms and legs (the inside of my arms, inside of my thighs, back of calfs, back of biceps).

It looks like little red bumps all over. And it does itch! I don't know of any different lotions or sheets or food or anything that I have done different lately.

Is this most likely an allergic reaction to something? Or what could it be caused from? I have no other symptoms. But I am freaking out! Any thoughts?

    • ANSWER:
If you have slept in a new location you may have been victim to bedbugs.

If you have been home and nothing new it may be dry skin.

It may be a food allergy - if this is the case try to limit yourself to bland food like sweet potatoes for a day and see if it helps.

It may be dry skin - apply lotion over the body.

You may have poison oak - don't take a bath.

If you have pets you may have a reaction to them suddenly - take a shower and wash all clothing and bedding. in fact, you should just do this no matter what.

The location of the rash makes me suspect that you may have been exposed to scabies, wash all clothing and see a doctor or nurse. Some hospitals allow you to call the advice line at 8am and request a same day appointment in the urgent care clinic - this will save you the $$ copay of the ER. for some reason scabies are found in nursing homes, and I hear rumor that you can get it from rotting oak branches. If it is scabies you need a really toxic lotion that only the doctor can give you.

If it is fungal - a flat rash with hardened skin, no bumps or obvious breaks in the skin, - put tea tree lotion on it, and possibly get a prescription for fluconizole lotion. also try using Lotrimin.

If it seems prickly and moves on to become a more fluid filled mass of blistering skin then most likely it's Shingles - don't go near children under 1 year old since if it is shingles you can give them chickenpox !!! It's how the virus has stayed alive for so many centuries. Shingles is treated by doctors. Valtrex is the brand name and there is alternative generic stuff out there for less $$ so if you are diagnosed with shingles I recommend asking for something covered by your insurance or a generic form.
Heat rash makes good sense to me, but just to be safe, take some Benedryl if you are not allergic to anything you know of. If Benedryl makes your rash die down a little, you may be having an allergic reaction. Measure the circumference of your biceps and thighs, arms and calfs, and make note of the size, measure again in the morning if you have not seen a doctor yet. If it has become worse you may need Emergency treatment.

Make a note to take to the doctor which needs to include:
color, size, location, when did it erupt, any changes in the rash since it erupted (like spreading), if it's painful or tender, list the symptoms like fever, headache or intestinal distress you are having. Have a history of prior allergies on that list, and any history of skin disorders, infections, sexual history, or recent bites by any insect or rodent exposure. Also bring a complete drug history for at least the past 6 months.

To be safe get tested for syphillys and HIV while at the doctors.

It could be anything like, acne vulgaris, dermatomyositis, follicular mucinosis, fox-fordyce disease, lichen planus, mono, vasculitis, pityriasis rosea, polymorphic light eruption, psoriasis, rosacea, seborrheic keratosis, syringoma, or signs of Lupus. It could also be a reaction to antibiotics, benzodiazepines, lithium, phenylbutazone, gold salts, allopurinol, isoniazid, or salicylates. It could also be a result of Dermatitis, Erythema Multiforme, Herpes simplex or Zoster (aka; Shingles), insect bites, tinea, or ???

  44. QUESTION:
itchy red bumps on hands and feet + swelling and upper right abdominal pain?
Does anyone have any clue as to what this might be? I've been so uncomfortable due to all this itching over the past few days and I can't see my doc until the 14th! I have itchy red bumps (very tiny) on my hands and feet and I also have a slight pain in my upper right abdomen area (it feels like a rib sprain sort of) and there's a bruise in the same area as well. Please help. Any advice would be great. Is there anything I can use to stop this itch? Thank you.
p.s. yes I am pregnant otherwise I wouldn't be asking this question in this area lol :(

    • ANSWER:
I would get that checked ASAP, probably at the hospital right away. It sounds like Cholestasis of Pregnancy... itchy palms and soles of feet can be an indication of liver problems, bile salts and bilirubin need to be checked by blood work. It also can be a pre-cursor to toxemia, and can result in problems with your baby or even stillbirth! Trust me, I know all about this from personal experience. The initial itching and rash can be PUPPP (Pruritic Urticarial Papules and Plaques of Pregnancy) which isn't dangerous to the baby, but will drive Mommy NUTS!!! But typically, PUPPP will affect other parts of the body (ie arms, chest, legs) EXCEPT the hands and feet or the face. If and when itching is on the palms or soles, it's considered VERY threatening. Please get it looked at right away!

What are red scaly itchy blothes on random parts of the body that do not go away?
I have itchy scaly red blocthes on my legs arms and back. Can you suggest possibe causes and treatment?

    • ANSWER:
You have described a type of rash. Sometimes it is caused by a fungal infection. There are so many different causes of rashes that it is very difficult to narrow down any specific cause of one, especially without being able to see it. Common categories of rash are:

scaly patches of skin not caused by infection,
scaly patches of skin produced by fungal or bacterial infection,
red, itchy bumps or patches over the body, such as on the chest and back.

Although rashes are seldom dangerous, self-diagnosis is not usually a good idea. Proper evaluation of a skin rash requires a visit to a doctor or other health-care professional. Check this site for good information and you may be able to figure out what is going on.

  49. QUESTION:
What are these bumps on my arms?
The bumps aren't itchy, red, or worse in the winter. My doctor examined it once and said that generally it's benign, but apparently I have a severe case. From what I've seen on other people's arms, yes, I do have a bad case. A lot of people in my school have it, but only my arms are noticeable, because of the darkness of the skin in that area. I tried scrubbing it with skin brightener, but it only worked the first time, scrubbing off the arm tan I got from playing tennis all summer. I know it's not acne, keratosis pilaris, or eczema.

itchy red bumps arms
