Wrinkled Hands

As we grow older, we start to seek hand wrinkles treatment on top of those lines on face and neck. But wrinkles on hands may not be purely due to the natural aging process, it can be the result of poor hand care regime or diet.

While most of us are not that concern with wrinkles on hand compare to those on the face, the truth is that wrinkles develop more readily on hand and deserve equal attention since they are signs of aging too.

Hand wrinkles are not something that those over forties need to worry about. Even those as young as twenty-five can develop them. They make us a little less appealing and they are a distraction during meetings and presentations.

Hand wrinkles steal the show for the wrong reason. They take away the attention during meetings and presentation plus these lines are not pleasant to touch. And if you are a young parent, hand wrinkles are a sharp contrast to your baby's soft and tender skin.

No doubt that sooner or later, hand wrinkles will surface, but we can delay them from showing up or reduce those already there with proper hand wrinkle treatments.

Here are a few things you can do:

Apply Moisturizing Hand Cream - Wrinkles are definite sign of dry skin. So the first thing is to protect your hands with moisturizing hand cream. This is especially important during dry season or after washing your dishes and laundries. When possible, use gloves so that the hand cream will not get washed away. Apply the cream at least twice per day and more if appropriate.

For hand wrinkle treatments, make sure most of the following ingredients are included in the cream you are using for maximum effect.

Cynergy TK: This is a functional type of keratin extracted from the wool of sheep. Be careful of hand cream in the market because most of them use synthesized keratin which has little effect for treating hand wrinkles. On the other hand, functional keratin is the useful substance that promotes collagen and elastin production.

Phytessence Wakame: This is derived from exotic kelp. It maintains a consistent amount of hyaluronic acid in the skin, and in turn, attracts moisture to keep the skin fresh and moist.

Antioxidants: This is the ingredient that fights free radicals that damage the skin. Aim for hand cream with green tea extract, vitamin C and E as they contain a rich dose of antioxidants.

Exfoliation - Use soap with exfoliating properties to remove the dead skin cells on the hand. Do it at least once weekly.

Drink Plenty of Water - Water is an important part of our lives, and as you know, we will die if we are without water for 3 days. It keeps us moist and provides moisture for our skin to keep it young and healthy. The standard is to have 8 glasses of water or more per day.

But what is important is to drink a glass when you wake up in the morning to replenish the lost fluid. Also drink half a glass of water an hour before heading for bed at night. This method keeps your skin moist longer through the night with less possibility to wake up for toilet break in the middle of the night.

Watch What You Eat - So often we hear others saying, you are what you eat. This is so true because proper nutrition is needed for beautiful skin. They help to delay wrinkles on hand, neck and face. Without proper nutrition, beauty care products offer little help.

Start by staying conscious of what you put in your mouth. Discard the junk and quick food and eat real food instead. Quick foods are loaded with chemical and empty carbohydrates that curb hunger without the nutrition. The worst thing is that they put toxins into your body and deprive your skin of proper nutrients.

Instead of the quick foods, choose organic foods. Eat organic fruits and vegetables and fish like wild salmon as they are high in antioxidant. Also have a healthy amount of fiber daily to help in purging the toxins out of the body.

Hand wrinkle treatments need not be an expensive process if you put in the efforts to take care of them. Start using these tips to eliminate and prevent the wrinkles on hand today.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
18 Month Old with Extremely Wrinkled Hands?
In the past month or so, my son has developed extremely wrinkled hands (like that of an elderly person). Figuring it was the cold and dry weather, I have lotioned his hands every night since, but to no avail. I remember a few people in high school that had similiar looking hands as my son. Is this some sort of condition or do I need to stop worrying and continue with the lotion treatment?

    • ANSWER:
At that age, it would be very rare, indeed, for dryness to cause such wrinkling of the skin. I would take him to a dermatologist (preferably a pediatric dermatologist) for an evaluation, as there are some genetic conditions in which premature aging of the skin may be a presenting sign.

The only thing that my feet have endured is foot fungus, which was cleared up a long time ago. My hands and feet have been wrinkled for about 5 years. Does anybody know what could cause this?

Home Remedies for Wrinkle on Skin
Here are some simple home remedies to deal with wrinkles on skin and prevent the formation of new ones:

Apply egg whites to the skin under your eyes. Egg whites contain several vitamins and will help to nourish as well as tighten your skin. This is an excellent method to reduce wrinkles naturally and so in addition to applying it under your eyes, you can apply it to your forehead and other areas of your skin that are prone to wrinkling. Odor-free castor oil can be applied to the skin under the eyes or on that of the throat.

Empty the contents of 3 Vitamin E capsules into a small bowl. Add to this 2 tsps plain yogurt, 1/2 tsp honey and 1/2 tsp lemon juice. Apply this mixture on the face using a cotton ball. Leave it on for 10 minutes and rinse. This is one of the simplest natural anti wrinkle face creams and is an especially effective anti wrinkle treatment for men.

A mixture of 1/4 cup comfrey infusion, 1/4 cup witch hazel and 10 drops of patchouli essential oil is effective in treating wrinkles. This can be stored in a clean bottle and applied on affected areas with a cotton ball. There are several natural anti wrinkle creams that work well when used on a regular basis but it is important to be patient and expect results only after a week or two of using these creams.

Gently massage coconut oil on portions of skin prone to wrinkles every night a bedtime. Virgin coconut oil mixed with a few drops of Vitamin E oil is one of the best deep wrinkle creams and often produces visible results within a week of using them.

A paste of turmeric made with sugarcane juice is great to get rid of wrinkles and slow skin ageing.

Cut a green Thompson seedless grape in half and gently crush it on your face on the wrinkles. Leave it for 20 minutes and rinse with warm water and let it dry in natural air.

  12. QUESTION:
Can you give me some feedback on this please?
This morning, she jumped on your bed to wake you up. This morning, you put her brown hair in pigtails because it was too short for anything else – she’d given herself a haircut last weekend. This morning, you put her empty princess backpack on her thin shoulders and made her lunch. This morning, you drove her to school. This morning, you dropped her off and told her you loved her. And this morning, someone killed her.
What is the root of the problem? The cause? The source? The instigator? You can call it anything you want – there are a hundred different synonymous phrases; a hundred different ways to put it, a hundred different people who are asking the same unanswerable question. The real, true heart of the question is: What are we doing wrong? And no one knows. No one is quite sure whether it is the guns or the mental illness or the depression or the lack of attention spent on a kid or whether it was the family, and if so, what can we do? Humans – and all other animals – are built to look for solutions. And as humans, we are also built to screw up and to get frustrated and experience loss and pain and terrible, terrible shame before we succeed.
    What do we do?
Sometimes we are the embodiment of old grandmas with veiny old wrinkled hands that sag in all the wrong places and are twisted with arthritis. They wring these tired hands incessantly, with the inquiry on loop: What do we do, What do we do, What do we do, What do we do?
So as humans, let’s fix it. Let’s screw up a little bit. Let’s get mad and break our mom’s favorite vase and then come back trying to fix the goddamned problem all over again. Let’s try because that’s all you can really ever do, isn’t it? Try. I call upon you, as a friend, a sister, a daughter, a step-daughter, a dabbler in literature, a musician, a singer, a dog-owner, an artist – sometimes, a hypocrite, a book-lover, a student, a handyman, a procrastinator, a magazine-reader, a doodler, a “floppy” Christian, and in the name of all great things, a human: Let’s try this. Let’s fix things and plant our seeds of progress because the fault is not in our stars but in ourselves that we are underlings. Some things keep us from progressing – and we, humans, are one of those things.

    Let’s change that.

I don't know, can you just give me some feedback? What was your impression of it? What can I change?

    • ANSWER:
I didn't like how the first like 50000000 sentences started with "this morning". It was kind of distracting. I'm seeing a lot of telling and not showing. However I am seeing some potential. I think with a little polishing, adding a little more detail, a little more jazz to the sentences, and you've got yourself a nice little start.

  16. QUESTION:
Very wrinkled itchy hands after being in shower or wearing rubber gloves since using HCl?
I work in a laboratory and daily handle 0.01 HCl, certain buffers and media like TSA and SDA. I have worked there for over a year now and only recently I've noticed if I take a shower for more then five minutes my hands wrinkle up to the point where it's almost painful to open my hand, mostly my right hand. I don't always wear gloves when handling the buffer solutions or low concentrated HCl and was wondering if I permanently damaged my hands from this. I started wearing gloves everyday last week and still there is no signs of change.... Ay thoughts?

    • ANSWER:
First, go to a good skin doctor. You've been working almost a year and repeated exposure of hands to 0.01 (M or N) HCl will "corrode" your hands, slowly. However, it must have destroyed your upper layer of skin to a maximum extent due to which it is itching. Always follow the safety procedures while being at a laboratory and handling laboratory equipments. Go to the skin doctor as fast as possible. It might not be late. Take care of your hands.

  21. QUESTION:
Ironing clothes. How to prevent wrinkles from reappearing immediately after ironing?
    Hi,
The shirt is made of 100% cotton and was very much wrinkled after hand washing. The iron was set at "cotton" with steam and water was sprayed during ironing. Although the wrinkles appeared straighten out after ironing, they return when the shirt was cooled.

Did I do something wrong? Was I missing a step? Did I kill the shirt during the washing?

    Any advise or thoughts?

    Thank you very much!

    • ANSWER:
Use spray starch. Make sure you preheat the iron. After ironing, immediately hang up the shirt to prevent further wrinkling. If the shirt is warm and left to lay around or is worn immediately, it will wrinkle.

When you wash something cotton, if you're going to hang it to dry, make sure that you hang it properly to lessen wrinkles.

  25. QUESTION:
What cause hands to be clammy when you've been in a swimming pool and how to prevent them?
For my case,my hands could turn out to be clammy whenever I go swimming and sometimes it could even happen in the shower. What probably causes this and what are ways to prevent them. Thanks in advance.

    • ANSWER:
If you're talking about the wrinkly skin on your fingers due to swimming, it's a pretty complicated biological process.

Basically, if you put a living cell in completely fresh water, the concentration of water to stuff-dissolved-in-the-water wants to equal out. But only water can pass through the cell barrier, so water passes through the cell wall in order to balance out the amount of dissolved solids in each. The cells in your hand fill up with water, causing them to puff up and expand which results in the more exaggerated wrinkling of your fingerprints. This entire process is called osmosis.

And no, I don't think there's any way to prevent it other than swimming in saltier water.

  26. QUESTION:
Why do your hands wrinkle after swimming in water a lot?
I just want to know cause i swim a lot and i always had my hands wrinkle!

    • ANSWER:
your skin produces a substance called sebum; this is an oily substance that keeps moisture in your skin, and excess moisture out. after being in the water for a while, this layer of sebum begins to come off, and your hands/feet begin to take in water (something similar to osmosis - water moves from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration). because the water is more concentrated outside of your body, it will naturally begin to attempt to diffuse into it. because of all this excess moisture you are recieving, the skin swells, giving it that wrinkled effect.

      hope this helps :P

  27. QUESTION:
What is the best way to prevent wrinkles or best way to erase wrinkles?
As I age, I notice I am getting more and more wrinkles. I have a lot around my eyes. I know there are a lot of creams and serums out there, but what are the best ways to prevent wrinkles and erase wrinkles?

    • ANSWER:
There are several things you can do to prevent wrinkles or treat wrinkles. As a general outline, there are creams and serums, as you have mentioned, there are also uv sun hats to protect your face from the sun's uv rays, and there are mild cleansers you can do to be gentle to your skin.

As for creams and serums, let's also add natural oils to this list. One of the best skin care lines for anti-wrinkle is SK-II. This is a Japan-based brand which started because sake brewers had incredibly smooth, wrinkle free hands. They discovered that the miracle ingredient in the sake that caused them to have wrinkle-free hands was called Pitera. They now sell this ingredient in many different forms but the best way to get it in a concentrated form is to buy a 10 piece mask and use the masks once in every 3 days for 30 days. It is expensive but worth the price. It should last you a month if you do it once in every 3 days. One of their spokesmodels, Kaori Momoi, is 60 years old and has NO wrinkles. In some photos, you can tell she might have problems with sagging, but she has NO wrinkles at age 60.

Another good ingredient to use for anti-aging, is organic rosehip oil. This oil has a lot of vitamin c and is known to heal wrinkles. You can buy it as a good price at Mountain Rose Herbs (you can google it). Another good oil to fight wrinkles is Sea Buckthorn Oil. Both oils are excellent at fighting wrinkles.

You should always try to wear a good sun hat when out in the sun. You should try to buy a hat that has UPF 50. That tells you it has good sun protection. You can buy a good sun hat on eBay. Just type in the search column, "Hat," and "Sun," "UV," or "Beach," and you should find something good.

Make sure you buy a relatively mild cleanser that IS P.H. BALANCED. It is important to buy a ph balanced cleanser or else the cleanser will dry out your skin. Desert Essence has a nice liquid cleanser that is all natural and ph balanced. It leaves your skin pretty clean.

I did a lot of research on ingredients that help with anti-aging and the best that I could come up with are Matrixyl and Argireline. Matrixyl restructures collagen and removes wrinkles. Argireline relaxes muscle movement and erases those forehead lines. The serum I used that has both ingredients in it is the Skin Beauty Solutions Expression Line Defense Serum.

Also, sometimes I think it is better to make your own serum. That way, you can get the exact concentration amount right. Usually, it's 10% argireline and 8% matrixyl. You can make your own custom serum with the links below.

Finally, there is a pranayama exerise (East Indian yogic breathing technique) that keeps the face looking youthful. As we age, we lose subcutaneous fat cells ("baby fat") from our face. This pranayama excerise will help maintain the subcutaneous layer in our face, keeping you looking youthful:

      1. Sit straight up and look forward
      2. Inhale for 5 seconds
      3. Touch your chin to the bottom of your neck while holding your breathe for 5 seconds
      4. Exhale for 5 seconds
      5. Do this a total of 4-5 times.
DO NOT DO THIS EXERCISE MORE THAN 5 TIMES A DAY OR ELSE IT WILL REVERSE THE EFFECTS OF THE BABY FAT (YOU WILL LOSE BABY FAT).

One last thing you can do to heal wrinkles, is to go to a pranic healer. Pranic Healing is a type of East Asian energy healing that can reverse wrinkles. You can search for a practitioner near you. They can also do long distance healing where they just need your photo, birthdate and name. You can go to the pranic healing website for more information or look up videos on youtube for more information.

      Best of luck!

  28. QUESTION:
How can I get a cotton skirt to permanently look wrinkled?
It's a simple cotton skirt made of 100% cotton. I know that you can go buy skirts that have skinny, vertical wrinkles in them that last no matter how many times you wear or wash them. I was wonder if there is some sort of spray or soak that I can buy at a craft store or something to get this skirt to stay permanently wrinkled.

    Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
I keep mine stored in a crinkled up twist. Take the skirt in 2 hands in front of you and bring the 2 sides together. Repeat until you're left with a long column of fabric. Now hold the skirt by the folded up waistband and pretend you're drawing a giant circle on the floor with it. The skirt start to twist, Keep going until you have a tight twist, then fold the skirt over from top to bottom. The twist should double up on itself, and then you can twist it a little tighter. You should easily be able to fit it in a drawer.

If you store it like this, it keeps it looking crinkled. You can also use the same method to dry the skirt, but untwist and retwist so the skirt dries evenly after washing. This is the easiest method I've found.

  29. QUESTION:

  30. QUESTION:
How can I take the wrinkles out of slacks that are 100 percent polyester?
How can I take the wrinkles out of slacks that are 100 percent polyester?
I've already looked this up and I heard a lot of things about a "press cloth", however I am not sure what this is. Can you explain to me what a pressing cloth is and how I can make and use one myself? Much thanks!

    • ANSWER:
      You have several options.

      1. Hang in the bathroom with you when you take a steamy shower. The steam should loosen up the wrinkles.

      2. Spray with water and let dry while hanging. Smooth any particularly nasty wrinkles with your hand while damp.

      3. Spray with water fairly well and toss in the dryer on low heat for like 5 minutes. Remove promptly and hang.

      4. It the wrinkles are really stubborn, they might just have to be ironed. Your iron should have a variety of settings; polyester being one of them. Use the lower temperature indicated or you run the risk of damaging the material; actually melting it.

If you want to make a pressing cloth, that's easy. Any thin, lint free cloth will work. Think old pillow case type material. You place that over the area to be ironed, smooth it out flat and iron over both the pressing cloth and the slacks. Keep moving and adjusting the pressing cloth as needed.

But you still need to use the lower heat setting on the iron even if you do use a pressing cloth.

Is there ANY way to get rid of wrinkly hands and feet?
I am only 12 years old, in my very early teen years and my hands and feet look like my grandma´s. Is there any creme, lotion, or even home remedies ( which I really doubt) that I can use to get rid of my wrinkly hands and feet?
    Thank you.

    • ANSWER:
wrinkling of the skin of the tops of your feet can be a skin issues relating to exposure to the sun or heat, and can be hard to treat, though general toning can help to some degree.
as for the soles of your feet, if they are wrinkly then this is natural, as your feet will be relatively soft and so should wrinkle unless there are any calluses present.
i suppose you could try anti-wrinkle cream but these are expensive and may be a waste of money.

  34. QUESTION:
When your in the bath why does only your hands and feet get wrinkly?
Why is it that only your feet and hands get wrinkly after being in the bath/pool etc but everyone else is normal?

    • ANSWER:
Your skin is comprised of two layers -- the epidermis and the dermis. The epidermis produces an oily protein called sebum, which is effective in repelling water. It's also the material that causes fingerprints.
Inevitably, a nice long soak in a bathtub sloughs off the excess sebum from your epidermis. As a result, your skin starts to take on water. The top layer of the epidermis is known as the stratum corneum, which is Latin for "horny layer." These are the tough, dead skin cells that are constantly being sloughed off your body in your clothes, your bed, and in the form of dandruff. Disturbing, but true.

Your fingers and toes have especially thick layers of stratum corneum. Once deprived of sebum, they swell up with water, causing wrinkles. This osmosis effect is harmless and temporary. One you get out of the tub, the extra water evaporates, leaving your skin even drier than before because there is no sebum to help retain moisture. This is a good time to apply lotion or oil to help your skin retain some of the water.

  36. QUESTION:
How do I get wrinkles out of a vinyl table cloth?
I bought vinyl as fabric (by the yard) to use as table cloth on a very long (11-foot) table. I ended up buying everything they had an that roll, and the remainder of it was rather wrinkled. How can I remove those set-in wrinkles? Iron? Steam? It's at the vacation home, so I don't have very many gadgets there (but I do have an iron). I need to be careful not to damage the vinyl. Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
A blow dryer would be safer. I've gotten wrinkles out of vinyl by holding a blow dryer set on the hottest temperature over the vinyl and pulling the wrinkles out. I think you could probably do the same thing with a steam iron by holding it above the table cloth and bursting the steam and pulling, but watch out that you don't burn your hands. Or protecting the table cloth with a terry towel above and below it while using the hot iron.

Why does my toddler have dry wrinkled hands?
My 21 month old has been sick with croup but has been drinking pretty well I think. he hasn't been eating much and didn't sleep much for four days. Now he is doing better but his hands are dry and wrinkled. I thought this might be slight dehydration, but he has been drinking an alright amount and I don't see this listed as a symptom anywhere.

    • ANSWER:
It probably isn't a symptom but maybe his body is just pulling moisture from that area or the air is. It's common for growing children to have changes in their skin from time to time based on their environment. Could be something else affecting it.

  41. QUESTION:
How do I remove wrinkles and creases from a filled waterbed mattress?
I bought a waterbed a few months ago, and it quickly developed all kinds of folds and wrinkles. Even with the mattress pad and sheets attached, the wrinkles can be felt as you lay on it. Any suggestions? I suppose an underfilled mattress can be the cause, but it doesn't really seem underfilled.

    • ANSWER:
yes, you may have it underfilled, but keep in mind that the liner that i am assuming came with your bed and is underneath it is designed to hold only so much water and if your mattress should burst you will have water overflowing the liner...on the other hand if you underfill the bed and you have a heater you may, by your body weight, compress the mattress to the point where the top portion of mattress is in contact with lower portion directly above the heater and you could cause the heater to over heat due to lack of water acting as coolant and it could burn a hole in the mattress,,,this happened to a friend of mine,, he woke up in a bed full of water.....lucky he was not burned or electrocuted...and yes the person who reccommended "burping" it was correct also..you need to get the air out of it....good luck to you...

I have a tattoo and its wrinkled on the tattoo what can i do to remove the wrinkle! It makes the tattoo actually look fake but its not what can i do about this!!Plz help if you have a great answer you will get best answer!

    • ANSWER:
It sounds to me like it is a new tattoo. The reason it looks wrinkled is because it is scabbed up. DO NOT PICK at it or scratch it. That is normal. (I have 9 tattoos and they all have done that) Just make sure you don't pick it, and keep lotion on it twice a day) Wash your hands before touching it, and practice general good hygeine.

It is normal and will "un-wrinkle" when it is healed. (about a week and a half if it is already wrinkled. (Scabbed)

  45. QUESTION:
What is a legitimate treatment for a few wrinkles and bags under ones eyes?
I have been fortunate all my life with not have wrinkles around the eyes. I am an aging baby boomer which makes this a good thing, but the last 6 or 8 months I have been having trouble sleeping. Of late I have noticed the wrinkles intruding onto my face for the first time. I don't mind paying a little more for the right skin care product to help with both the bags and 1st time wrinkles.

    • ANSWER:
These safe natural treatments really work and can permanently get rid of them..

This is a response I received from wannabeblue28:
"Hi Mukunda M. I have just been rubbing my face with oil using my fingers and hands and It has made a HUGE difference in my complexion after just one night. ...... My skin looks so much tighter everywhere and i no longer have bags under my eyes! Thank you so much for your post, I have been suffering with acne and under-eye circles since i was young."

She had seen an answer I gave about how vigorous face massaging with essential oils had permanently got rid of my acne and also removed my bags/circles. The massages greatly tighten skin under and around the eye area and the bags go away.

The most helpful ones are: Using both hands together (1) Do long up and down sweeps close to nose from chin area up to near eyes. (2) Do another up and back at an angle from chin point to cheek bone. (3) Do fast up and down massage close to eye from cheek bones at an angle of 45 degrees (on your crows feet). If do all 3 for 10 minutes daily - will markedly tighten skin and diminish the circles in the first two days. Use any oil. Olive is good. To avoid skin pulling first make skin taught by partially opening mouth and pulling lips firmly back against teeth(tightens most of face)

Additionally facial yoga exercises help a great deal. Find on Youtube. Do the "The lion face" and try to hold for 30 seconds. A variation of that is protruding the tongue as if trying to touch tip of nose with tip of tongue.

YOGA MEDITATION is a great help.and is easy to do. Contact me for more info. It enables you to completely relax and gives you deep, restful sleep. 6 hours of restful sleep is considerably more beneficial than 8 or more hours of non restful sleep.

How do I fix the wrinkles on my forehead?
The problem is when I wrinkle my forehead I have one big wrinkle going across my forehead. Now, I have a slight wrinkle that stays permanently and won't go away, how would I fix it?
I've heard of eyebrow bone reduction but that seems drastic.

    • ANSWER:
FROWN LINES (Vertical ones between brows):
Use any oil. Olive is good. Press side of first finger of right hand directly on right side line and massage quite vigorously up a down while continuing pressing. Try to do 20 times a few times a day, then as skin adjusts you can gradually increase that number. Then do the same for left frown line using left finger of left hand. You will see distinct fading in a matter of days and greater fading day by day.
      HORIZIONTAL LINES
Forehead lines( horizontal ones): Use olive oil and massage on lines with front of first three fingers held together and, starting from one side of forehead, do a series of short forward and back strokes - about 5 or 6 - blending one into the next all the way to the other side. For best, quickest results do quite vigorously for a minute or more several times a day.

CROWS FEET: Can be quickly greatly minimized by rubbing up and down on them quite vigorously with first three fingers held close together. Even deep lines will be greatly diminished. For faster results do 2 or 3 times or a day.

      You could get surgery, or

      get more sleep

Do you get baggy eyes? There is this surgery where they take the fat out of the bags and it looks tons better.

On the other hand, stuff like surgery is getting out of control. I would just use some lotion or just be proud of them wrinkles.
